Gear: Information Age Armor

Flexible armor of this Age is generally made of aramid (e.g.Kevlar) or UHMWPE (e.g. Spectra) fiber cloth. Molded rigid armor can be made from solid pieces of formed UHMWPE or resin-impregnated aramid composites. Rigid plates provide the best protection but are generally restricted to flat shapes, and are made from ceramics such as boron carbide.

  • Light Vest: A lightweight concealable vest that protects against most common pistol calibers.
  • Concealable Vest: A vest designed to be worn underneath clothing, capable of stopping nearly any pistol round.
  • Body Armor Vest: A vest offering more coverage than the concealable vest.
  • Rifle Plates: Rigid plate inserts that can fit into a body armor vest for additional protection against high powered firearms. These plates will protect against typical civilian rounds, but are not rated against armor penetrating rifle bullets. The plates themselves provide no padding, but use the Pad value of the vest they are used with. Use the same activation and armor roll for both the vest and the plates; for convenience, when both plates and vest activate ⊕ the armor scores together (+6½ when used with the above-listed body armor vest). A vest with the plates will be bulky and difficult to conceal under normal clothing.
  • High-Threat Rifle Plates: These heavy plate inserts can even protect against armor piercing rifle rounds. When used with the above body armor vest, the combined protection when both activate is Armor Score +7½.
  • Helmet: Provides protection against fragments, pistols, and some rifle threats.
