Explosives
During the Age of Automation, a new class of explosives known as polynitro come into prominence.
These are based on nitrogen atoms bonded to each other in a different configuration to the usual dinitrogen gas.
Because dinitrogen is so stable, if set off the polynitro rapidly releases large amounts of energy as it turns into nitrogen gas.
A polynitro explosion has approximately five times the yield of an equal mass of TNT.
