Quinkana was a crocodile from ancient Australia which spent considerable time on land. It was likely an ambush predator similar to the modern Komodo dragon. Rather than the conical piercing teeth of modern crocodiles, Quinkana posessed steak-knife teeth for cutting flesh.
The latest and largest species, Quinkana fortirostrum, lived in Australia's pleistocene, and probably encountered the ancestors of the Aboriginees before its extinction. It very well may have dined on a few before it or its prey base was hunted to extinction.
Quinkana was known to reach Medium size, but may have occasionally grown larger.
