Gibbons in GURPS

Hylobates sp.

Gibbons are small, agile apes that spend most of their lives high in the trees. They live in Southeast Asia, anywhere there is tree cover. Gibbons eat primarily leaves and fruit, but will take insects and small animals when they can find them.

Gibbons typically live in bonded, mated pairs with any immature children. They will defend a territory from other gibbons by singing practiced duets. An inflatable throat pouch helps to amplify their booming songs.

Most gibbon behavior is learned. Their only innate skills are climbing and singing, although typical skills of wild adults are listed in their template.

The siamang (Hylobates syndactylus) is a larger species of gibbon.
