Uakari monkeys are from South American jungles. They have powerful jaws for crushing nuts, their favorite food. In addition to nuts, Uakari eat fruit, seeds and insects as well. Uakari have bushy fur over their body but a completely bald head and face, and only a tiny stub of a tail. The red faced uakari has a particularly striking appearance, with golden-brown fur and a bright red head.
Uakari are thought to be monogamous, but no one is really sure. They live in bands of several dozen individuals that disperse during the day to forage.
