Tamarins are small monkeys from the jungles of South America. They have long but non-prehensile tails which they use for balance as they run and jump through the trees. Tamarins are omnivores, eating fruit, nectar, gum, insects and other arthropods, eggs, and small vertebrates such as birds, lizards, and frogs.
Tamarins live in small family groups. Only the dominant male and female will breed, the rest help raise the offspring.
