The snow leopard is a large spotted cat of the Himalayas. In the summer it dwells in the alpine meadows and rocky crags of these mountains, in winter it follows its prey to the forests of lower elevations. This cat has exceptionally dense, soft fur that is attractively marked with large grey spots. The snow leopard is well adapted to the deep snowfal and bitter cold of the central Asian winters.
Snow leopards are excellent leapers, able to jump up to 6 meters staight up and 15 meters horizontally.
Snow leopards prey on deer, wild goats and sheep, boar, marmots, and pikas. They occasionally take domestic animals, but do not seem to kill humans.
Snow leopards are normally solitary, but will tolerate each other's presence. Their hunting ranges may overlap with those of their neighbors.
