Pseudaelurus is the likely descendent of Proailurus and the probable ancestor of all other cats. It was a lithe, agile animal which was probably an accomplished climber. It lived in Eurasia and North America during the Miocene. Three species are listed in the main table, numerous other species were approximately the same size as Pseudaelurus turnauensis, and the American Pseudaelurus intrepidus was about the same size as the European Pseudaelurus quadridentatus.
