Zorros in GURPS
Zorro is the spanish word for fox. While South America lacks true foxes, a number of small canines have evolved to fill the same niches.
- The culpeo Lycalopex culpaeus is found along the Pacific coast and western slopes of the Andes from Tierra Del Fuego all the way to Ecuador. Males mass around 11 kg, while females are around 8 kg in mass.
- The South American gray fox Lycalopex griseus lives in most of Argentina and Chile except for the high Andes. It masses between 2.5 and 4 kg.
- The pampas fox Lycalopex gymnocercus lives in central and northern Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, extreme south Brazil, and parts of Bolivia. As its name suggests, it lives in pampas grasslands, but also montaine forests, dry scrubland, and wetlands. Their mass ranges from 2.5 to 8 kg.
- The hoary fox Lycalopex vetulus is from south-central Brazil. They mostly live in the Cerrado savannas. Mass ranges from 3 to 4 kg.
- The crab-eating fox Cerdocyon thous is found in northern and eastern South America, with a mass of between 5 and 8 kg.
