The maned wolf is South America's largest wild dog. It lives in south and central Brazil and parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. This dog has very long legs which it probably uses to see over the tall grass where it lives. It is a red color with black feet, black snout, and white tail tip, with a mane of long fur on its neck and shoulders that it can raise or lower as needed - such as when angry or frighened and cornered. It has a strong odor. Maned wolves are omnivores, taking small animals and fish as fruit, tubers, and sugarcane.
