Giraffes are enormously tall savanna dwellers from sub-Saharan Africa. Their legs and neck are greatly elongated. They have a white background color with light red-brown splotches.
The long legs and neck of giraffes allow them to browse high up in trees where other herbivores cannot reach. However, such extreme height makes it cumbersome for them to get up or down, or even to lower their head to drink. Changing posture requires two maneuvers for giraffes.
Other than mothers with their calves, giraffes do not form long term relationships. However, they do tend to congregate together in spread out groups of up to 30 individuals.
