Roe Deer

Capreolus capreolus

Roe deer are a small European species. They are creatures of forests and twilight. It will bark in alarm, and flash a white patch on its rump as it bounds away. They live in small groups of a buck, two or three does, and their fawns. They breed in late summer, and give birth to twins in early summer. They fawns remain hidden in tall grass until, at about three months of age, they can keep up with their mothers.
